A simple add on is that it is driven by the right business question that need to be solved. That is why I am more in favor of Tom Haak his comment “It doesn’t really matter”

Great comment Louis, thanks! I do agree with you that HR analytics should refer to the statistical analysis of people data. However, often is doesn’t (check https://www.aihr.com/blog/wheres-analytics-in-hr-analytics-tools/). This confuses a lot of people.

Maybe we should be stricter on when we use the term HR analytics. Additionally, maybe Human Resources should also include non-conventional HR work force data, like financial metrics. However, that’s certainly not the first thing that comes in mind when we say HR. People analytics encompasses a broader view which includes these metrics. That’s why I like it slightly better. Very much personal preferences though.

If you say to anyone, anywhere, inside or outside the workplace ‘People Analytics’, 9 in 10 will not think about people in the workplace. Human Resources refers to the workforce and everything to do with any element of the workforce, a much closer fit. I think HR analytics is the closes fit to talking about the statistical analysis of people data. Is this the start of larger change, something called Personnel, was renamed Human Resources and will now be called People… PS. I work with People Managers in a global People Service Team with a job title of Senior HR Analyst 🙂 Should I put in a request to my boss for title change?

Analytics in People, sounds good to me and keeps your site moving with the ever growing communities out there.
